Crescent Tennis Club was founded in 1905 and is the largest tennis club in the Sidcup area.

 
The Club aims to offer tennis for all ages and playing abilities from beginner upwards.
  • Currently 6 courts out of 8 to choose from including 2 out of 4 floodlit courts so you can play until 9.30pm all year round!
  • Free online court booking system.
  • Professional (LTA) coaching – individual or group – to improve your game or give you the basics to get on court.
  • Junior tennis coaching camps during the Summer, Easter/half term breaks - contact our coaching supplier, detials are on the coaching page.
  • Social Tennis throughout the week and weekends.
  • Competitive tennis, fun one day events, our annual club championships tournament and inter club league matches.
  • Club Box leagues- great way to meet new people and have a game with a competitive edge.
  • Access to facilities offering a bar, kitchen, TV.

History of the Club

Snippets of History

In 1905 several gentlemen decided to contribute 10 guineas each to form the Crescent Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.  
Some members were charged with procuring stop netting 6ft high from Gamages at a cost of 1 shilling a yard.
Deckchairs were purchased at 1s 11d each. (9.5 p in todays money)
A full-time groundsman was employed at 30 shillings a week.  (£1.50 p in todays money)
Ball boys could be hired for 1 penny a day.
A clubhouse was procured sometime between 1905 and 1912.
